Big Bear – June 2015

Another great weekend in Big Bear.  We camped at the Greenspot group campsite, complements of the U.S. Forest Service because of our volunteer work on our adopted trail.  We had a clear and beautiful Saturday morning to start our trail run.  25 jeeps took off at 10 a.m. to the Jacoby Canyon trail head.  Everyone tackled Jacoby Canyon without a problem, but then came Little John Bull trail, a black diamond rated trail.  Most of us met all the challenges that Little John Bull had to offer, with the exception of two Jeeps that got stuck on a rock.  The GET JeepN’ crew got them going again without any damage, except maybe driver pride.  We had one breakdown, a leaf spring pin broke, but that was fixed while we all ate lunch.  We finish our run by driving through the Pinnacles, a beautiful trail that winds around huge granite boulders.  From there half of us went home and the rest of us went back to camp and enjoyed hanging around the campfire.  On Sunday we went down Balky Horse Canyon, to Burns Canyon and then found our way back to Baldwin Lake.  A great way to end a perfect weekend of off roading. Hope to see you at our next adventure.
